Greetings Painters!

The foundation for Evening Sunset, featured in the Decorative Painter Magazine, Issue 4, 2011, is painted using a natural sea sponge technique. I've found this to be an excellent preparation that provides a matte tooth on which to build subsequent layers of paint. By adding multi-purpose sealer, you can use the same method on metal or glass.

The effect is a soft blending of colors that instantly suggests the major background elements such as, sky, distant trees, water and land, To this sponged background the more detailed forms are added. Simply follow my step-by-step illustrations and detailed painting instructions to see how easy it is!
