October 2011
Greetings Painters!
An oil painting done in 1873 by Jasper Francis Cropsey (one of the many talented great American painters) was the inspiration for Misty Afternoon, featured in the October 2011 issue of PaintWorks. The goal was not only to paint a colorful autumn scene, but to achieve the misty atmosphere often seen around bodies of water. The colors will look bright and intense (and a bit disturbing) before the "milky misting" is applied. But trust me, you will love the results!
