Greetings Painters!

This wonderful triptych from Painter's Paradise (#1209994, www.paintersparadise.com) and age-old gardens and cottages of England inspired my painting called Cotswold Cottage featured in the Decorative Painter magazine. Notice the small thatched cottage allows the many traditional flowers and pathway to lead the viewer into the scene. This lesson includes each flower's development, stroke by stroke, the stone cottage and all landscape elements in full color! Also included are step-by-step illustrations on how to paint the blue delphiniums with a graduated background featured on the outside of the triptych. Of course complete instructions and detailed patterns are included plus color illustrations of sky, clouds, grass and pathway. This is a detailed project for all you romantic flower lovers and provides complete use information for Sharon B's Crown & Halo brushes now offered at 20% off!

PaintWorks August 2011: I hope you enjoy painting my Sunny Skies Tray design! This tranquil landscape is filled with sunny clouds, fields with strong cast shadows, back lit trees and cows indicating late morning light. The goal is to paint every element that faces the sun with a glowing edge then add contrasting dark areas to create interest and dimension. This technique was commonly used by the Great American Painters during the Romantic Period of the late 1700's and early 1800's.
